Dodo
I often call my mum a Dodo and one of the things we love to do is have mother-daughter time sight seeing. Happy Mother's day :)

Bits
I'm working on a personal project and trying to figure out the style I want to use and playing with colours. Small trial on some rocks. Feeling the need to push further out my comfort zone.

Animex
Last week I got to attend the Animex Expo taking place at Teesside University in Middlesbough. It is the the largest festival dedicated to animation and computer games in the UK. I was only able to attend the last two day of the talks but it was never the less amazing and really inspiring. I got to meet speakers, students, graduates, making new friends along the way thanks to the "Animex Lounge" evening, and during the Wrap Party on the Friday. If you haven't been I really recommend you plan it for next year! More info HERE

Aria For A Cow
I am very pleased to announce that I am part of this amazing project called "Aria for a cow". I got contacted by the art director Amos Sussigan to be a layout designer/ Vis dev for the short animation. After our first chat I was immediately taken by the concept of the story as well as the direction they had for the production. What I also was very thankful about is that they love the fact that the "Production Barn" is a global one with people from around the world collaborating together.
Directed by Dan Lund, Aria For A Cow, is an animated short, based on a song of the same title by the award-winning team of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, the men behind the music of Little Shop of Horrors, The Little Mermaid and Beauty and The Beast, is about to find its voice. Produced by Connie Thompson, associate producer Nikitha Mannam, and sung by Kate Pazakis.
I started in October and since I am thankful everyday that I can be part of this project. During my stay in Burbank in November I was able to meet with Amos, Dan, the layout director Edwin Rhemrev, Connie, Nikitha and had a little get together on the Saturday and was the first time I got to meet everyone in person. Everything about how the production works is exactly what makes me want to be an artist in the entertainment industry: we get together (or in my case skype and email) and discuss ideas, options, how to make things work and after some hard work we see a great product to be proud of for all to enjoy. Not only because of the story of the song itself but the story behind the production is for me a major part of the magic, with every team member bringing their own take & experience to the table , building not only a few minutes of fun to watch but having had months or years worth of happy memories working together.

CTNX 2013
I finally got the time to update after having quite a busy few months. I was very lucky to be able to attend the CTN animation convention this year and not only that but volunteer with the Vancouver Animation School! The experience was no less then amazing. From flying out for the first time on my own to the other side of the world ( I live in the UK) to having the chance to meet all the people who I look up to and admire their craft and just soaking in so much information and experience. I got to talk to people of the industry for portfolio reviews, peers, student, and people thinking of entering that world.
I was also very lucky to get a Disney tour and realize one of my dreams! I really feel like I got best of everything during my short week-end there and can't wait to be able to go again next year! Disney entrance lobby |

I’ve been trying to get my schedule back on track and decided to give myself two mornings a week to go sketch outdoors because A: it gets me out the house and B:I can get reference and practice that you can’t get sat at a computer all day. I’ve been doing it on and off for a year now and it took me a few trials and errors to find the right spots in town from which I had a good view but wasn’t obvious to the passers-by outside.
I tried out this brown recycled paper sketchbook after having it on my shelve for past 3yrs not knowing what to do with it as I saw Mr.Brett Bean use it together with red pencils which liked the finish off together with white highlights . I love his handwork and use of strong shapes simple shapes which is what I need to practice.
